Monthly Discussion TopicsThis is a featured page

A new initiative to get the Factory’s quarterly publication up and running.

Every month, we’ll post a new subject for discussion and (hopefully) debate. The topic will probably emerge from something which crops up in the course of The Factory’s work, but feel free to suggest any subjects you feel are worth exploration.

We’ll use these pages to explore the topic in writing. This may involve shorter debates on the discussion forums, but hopefully members will feel inspired to write longer pieces too. There are no rules: your writing can take whatever form seems most suitable (blog, essay, playscript, poem, stream of consciousness, suggested practical exercises etc.).

Steve will edit together the various pieces into a monthly digest (also including, perhaps, relevant older contributions to the Factory Member site). This digest will hopefully be used as the basis for practical exploration in the Factory’s Jam Studio. It may also be sent to relevant theatre practitioners from outside The Factory for their responses.

The results – whatever they are – will then form part of the Factory’s new quarterly publication. We really hope to make this a cutting-edge project which will be read with interest by anyone who’s interested in the key debates facing theatre-makers today. (If anyone has any suggestions for a suitably catchy title, incidentally, please post them here!)

This initiative really will rely on Factory members’ collaboration and involvement – so please do get writing!
