HamletHamlet & HoratioBy Jupiter, I think I am getting the hang of this...now if I could only think of something to say! I know - I'll import my biography to this very page, though the leap in technology required may mean the world will have to wait just a little longer..."All may be well..."

Jonathan studied at Manchester University a long time ago, and has been working as an actor for over 30 years. Recent highlights include playing CLAUDIUS in Tim Carroll’s new production of “Hamlet” for the Factory; AENEAS in the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment’s “Dido and Aeneas” at the Queen Elizabeth Hall; EMIL in David Mamet’s “Duck Variations” at Regent’s Park Studio; PIETRO DE CONVINZO in Andrew Bovell’s “Ship of Fools” at Theatre 503; STARBUCK in a national tour of “Moby Dick” for Compass Theatre Company; BRIAN SQUIRE in “Before Bristol” and JACK HIGHWAY in “Me and Michael” – 2 new plays by Robert Meakin at the Old Red Lion; THE KING in “The Gentleman from Olmedo” and PANCRAZIO in “The Venetian Twins” at the Watermill, Newbury; JACQUES in “As You Like It” and FREUD in “Sweet Dreams” – on tour for Sphinx; two seasons at Shakespeare’s Globe (“The Tempest”, “Two Noble Kinsmen” and “Macbeth”); “The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat” and “Because Its There” at Nottingham Playhouse; and HAMLET (in French) for the Corsican company Theatre Point in Ajaccio and at the Avignon Festival. On television lately, Jonathan was Peter Phillips, the distressed father in the BBC drama-documentary “Angel of Death”. He was also fairly upset as Stevens, Chaplain to Henry V, in Channel 4’s “Agincourt”… With “Return of the Jedi” and Tavernier’s “Death Watch / La Mort en Direct” in his film portfolio, (and this year, Phil Martin’s gangster short “The Price”), Jonathan has also much experience in radio and voiceover work, and has recorded close to 100 Talking Books. French-speaking, horse-riding, car-driving, abseiling, baritone-singing…all the usual things, plus archery..!

Soon after writing the above, Jonathan was snapped up and taken to Broadway; after completing the shopping for his eager wife and family, he caught the bus back from Ealing Broadway and resumed his previous life.....
He has played POLONIUS several times in the Factory "Hamlet" now - when he loses (or wins?)
the toss for CLAUDIUS - and has recently boarded the good ship "Seagull", inhabiting the skin of the
BROTHER. He has spoken to a lot of important people, mulled over many offers and taken certain steps
which may one day soon lead to something of surprising significance. Lips, sadly, must remain sealed
and legs crossed, but watch this space.....
[Basically, he's just hamging around till he gets a free Factory trip to New York.]

Jonathan would like to update/remodel his picture gallery, but he's forgotten how. Tim?
